Pool Pup - Installation Instructions
Easy Installation of Pool Pup
Congratulations on your purchase of PoolPup. You have taken the first
step in gaining peace of mind for you and your family by preventing the
accidental drowning of your dog. Its not a matter of if your dog falls into
the pool its a matter of when your dog falls into the pool. PoolPup by itself
wont do it, you have to train your dog to use it. Here's how you do it:
No tools are required, no assembly is necessary.
Remove PoolPup from the box and find the alcohol wipes provided.
Select an appropriate site at the deep end of the pool. Your dog
is most likely to be in trouble if he or she falls in the water in this area.
Make sure that once your dog climbs out he or she has somewhere safe to land.
A flower pot or chair will prevent your dog from reaching a safe place and may
cause the dog to fall back in the pool. Likewise a very narrow surface may be
hazardous for your dog. Do not locate PoolPup near the skimmer.
If you have a spa and are using a PoolPup do not place PoolPup on the
side of the spa that faces the pool. The important part of placement is
that your dog has a wide, easy place to exit. Now that you've found a place to
locate your PoolPup, take the enclosed alcohol wipes out of the package and clean
the top surface of the pool deck where you intend to place PoolPup. The
surface must be warm and dry. A cold and wet surface will interfere with the
adhesives bonding properties.
Position the top of
PoolPup in the proper place and check to see that it can hang down in the pool
and that the screws in the bottom of PoolPup can reach the sides of the pool. Peel
away the release tape from the adhesive strip on the back of PoolPup
and press into place. Do this gently so as not to splash water in and
around that area, as it has to be warm and dry. Then place a 40 lb. weight
on the top step of PoolPup directly over the adhesive on the reverse side.
The easiest way to do this is to place an empty bucket on top of the PoolPup
logo and carefully fill it with water. Its important not to get the area wet
when filling the bucket. If you prefer to use something other than a bucket,
any weight of 40 lbs. will do the trick.
Leave the weight on the PoolPup for 12 to 24 hrs. Do not use the
pool during this time so the water will not splash over the edge in the area
of the PoolPup until the adhesive has a chance to set. Now you can remove the
weight, and extend the two nylon screws until they make contact with
the wall of the pool or spa so that PoolPup hangs vertically (not at an
angle).
